Chandra Shekar is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Linguistics at California State University, Fresno, within the College of Arts and Humanities. He holds an MA in Linguistics from the University of Ottawa (1986) and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Washington (1994).

Dr. Shekar specializes in Syntax, Dravidian Linguistics, and the Structure of English Language. His research includes theoretical syntax and Dravidian language studies, with a focus on linguistic frameworks and pedagogical applications. He is currently writing a textbook titled Structure of English for Language Teachers to support educators in understanding English grammar and usage.
At Fresno State, Dr. Shekar teaches undergraduate and graduate courses such as LING 10, LING 11, LING 30, LING 100, LING 115, LING 146, and LING 147. His teaching emphasizes curriculum development, classroom discussion moderation, and student assessment. Outside academia, he enjoys reading, gardening, music, travel, and family time.
