Chandana Banerjee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Supportive Care Medicine at City of Hope, where she serves as Dean, Director, and Designated Institutional Official for Graduate Medical Education. She specializes in hospice and palliative care with clinical expertise in pediatric cancers, end-of-life care, and hospice services, and is fluent in Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, and Spanish.

Dr. Banerjee's research focuses on palliative care integration in oncology, cultural dimensions of end-of-life decision-making, and health equity in hospice services. She pioneered the City of Hope Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship and established the Cancer Pain Rotation for Kaiser Permanente's fellowship program. Her work bridges clinical practice with humanities through poetry and cross-cultural studies of bereavement, including editing an upcoming Springer publication on global end-of-life perspectives.

As physician lead for Schwartz Rounds and chair of the End of Life Option Act Subcommittee, Dr. Banerjee advances institutional ethics frameworks while mentoring through curriculum development. Her leadership extends to national committees including the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Fatigue Panel and Compassion & Choices board, where she shapes policy on medical aid in dying and bereavement support.
She directs the Supportive Care Medicine clinical team at City of Hope's Duarte Cancer Center, having founded the End of Life Symposium (endowed by Arthur Riggs, Ph.D.) and serving on Continuing Medical Education and Ethics committees. Her work integrates clinical practice with advocacy through AAHPM leadership roles and international conference presentations.
