Dr. Chaim Letwin is the Carol Sawyer Parks Endowed Chair and Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at Suffolk University’s Sawyer College of Business. He serves as Associate Chair for Entrepreneurship and Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Academic Programs for Entrepreneurship. His research focuses on entrepreneurial capital acquisition, crowdfunding dynamics, and implicit biases in funding, particularly gender-related biases. He co-created one of the first live crowdfunding courses nationally.
Education: PhD from University of Central Florida, JD and MBA from Villanova University, and BS from Pennsylvania State University.
Research Interests: Dr. Letwin examines how entrepreneurs secure funding through various mechanisms, analyzing biases held by funders and their impact on entrepreneurs’ success. His work bridges entrepreneurship theory with practical applications, such as crowdfunding’s role in capital acquisition and gender equity in funding outcomes. He also explores ethical leadership and abusive supervision dynamics in organizational settings.
Recent Articles: His 2024 studies highlight gender bias advantages for female entrepreneurs in crowdfunding and transaction costs in novel funding mechanisms. Earlier works include theories of funding fit and coachability’s role in entrepreneurial success.
Professional Contributions: As a course creator and center director, he integrates research into pedagogy. His endowed chair underscores his academic leadership in entrepreneurial studies.
