معرفی
Chad Jafvert is the Lyles Family Professor of Civil Engineering and Professor of Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University's Lyles School of Civil Engineering. He holds affiliations with the Division of Environmental and Ecological Engineering and the Global Engineering Program. His research focuses on chemical speciation, environmental photochemistry, water quality modeling, and sustainable waste management.
Education: B.S. in Biochemistry (Iowa State University, 1979), M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering (University of Iowa, 1982-1985), and a postdoctoral fellowship at the U.S. EPA (1985-1986).
Research interests include environmental fate of nanomaterials, water treatment technologies, and pollution control strategies. Current projects involve monitoring trace metals in Peruvian rivers and developing slow sand filtration systems for rural regions. His work spans environmental chemistry, remediation, and sustainable resource recovery.
Advising and grants: Supervised over 50 graduate students and postdocs, many now leading academics globally. Notable advisees include Heather Gall (now at Penn State), Wen-Che Hou (National Cheng Kung University), and Chia-Ying Chen (National Chung Hsing University). Research has been funded by agencies like NSF and industry partners such as NiSource.
Labs/teams: Active in the Center for the Environment (C4E) and collaborates internationally via the Purdue-UNSA Nexus in Peru. His lab develops innovative solutions for environmental challenges, including coal tar remediation and lithium-ion battery recycling.
