Ceylan Onay Sahin is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Brighton's School of Business and Law, affiliated with the Digital Innovation and Transformation Research Excellence Group. She previously served as Professor of Finance at Bogazici University, where she founded the Digital Finance Working Group. Holding a PhD from Bogazici University (2004) and a Master's from Koç University (2000), she is a Marie Curie Fellow (2008) and has published in top journals like the Journal of Corporate Finance. Her research focuses on Fintech, digital transformation in financial services, regulatory impacts, and financial inclusion. She actively participates in industry networks such as the Global Blockchain Business Council and the Emerging Markets Group.
Her teaching spans 20+ years, emphasizing corporate finance, fintech, and information systems through case-based and blended learning. She has supervised numerous MA/PhD theses on Fintech, digital strategy, and banking innovation. Current research explores open banking productivity, SME access to fintech financing, and blockchain applications.
Recent work includes a commissioned report on Turkey's Fintech landscape (2025), studies on EU economic integration through foreign investment (2024), and analyses of mobile banking adoption barriers (2023). Awards include the EU Marie Curie Fellowship and recognition for contributions to Fintech education.
