Cesar Miguel de Almeida Vasques

Dr. Cesar Vasques is Assistant Professor in the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Group at Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo's School of Technology and Management. His research spans vibration control, smart materials, and structural acoustics with applications in aerospace, energy, and automotive sectors.

He has led 11 R&D projects as coordinator (totaling 3+ MEUR) including ESA and European Defense Agency initiatives on space mechanisms and composite materials. Current work focuses on 3D-printed structures, smart coatings for impact detection, and vibration damping technologies.

Vasques developed novel finite element models for adaptive structures with piezoelectric damping and viscoelastic treatments. His experimental work includes vibration testing of composite guitar soundboards and transformer noise reduction solutions.

With over 50 publications, recent articles focus on additive manufacturing applications in mechanical systems. He serves on scientific committees of 28+ conferences and editorial boards of multiple journals in mechanics and acoustics.
