Cesar Leal Costa

César Leal Costa is a Full Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Murcia. He holds dual qualifications in Nursing and Psychology, and leads the ICEBE research group focusing on Evidence-Based Nursing and Clinical Simulation. His research spans communication in healthcare, simulation-based learning methodologies, and gender-based violence intervention.

He earned his doctorate from the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche with a thesis on healthcare communication, supervised by Dr. Sonia Tirado González and Dr. Carlos J. van der Hofstadt Román. With 17 years of teaching experience, he has supervised 15 completed theses (all with top scores) and numerous master’s and bachelor’s projects.

His research outputs include over 143 indexed journal articles (55 in Q1 journals), methodological frameworks like the MAES self-learning simulation model, and contributions to international journals such as Plos One and Healthcare. His work emphasizes translating evidence-based practices into clinical training and improving healthcare professional communication skills.
