Ceren Mert Travlos is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of North Georgia (UNG), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (Turkey), with a visiting research fellowship at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her academic credentials include a Master’s in Sociology from Middle East Technical University (METU) and undergraduate studies at METU and the University of San Francisco.
Her research focuses on cultural studies, urban sociology, and the intersection of media/popular culture with globalization. Key themes include creative hubs in non-Western contexts, transnational music networks, visual culture in conflict representation, and the sociology of film/television. She has published widely in journals like *Cultural Trends*, *Journal of Humanistic Psychology*, and *European Journal of Humour Research*, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary analysis of cultural production and power dynamics.
Travlos teaches courses ranging from introductory sociology to specialized topics like *Sociology of Science and Technology*, *Urban Politics*, and *Political and Social Perspectives on Popular Music*. Her work often bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical studies of contemporary cultural phenomena, including surveillance capitalism and digital self-tracking practices.
