Cemil Aydin is a Professor of Global History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research focuses on international/global history, with particular emphasis on Pan-Islamism, Pan-Asianism, and critiques of Eurocentrism.

Research Interests
Dr. Aydin explores the intellectual history of global anti-Westernism, Ottoman-Japanese imperial interactions, and the conceptualization of the 'Muslim World.' His work bridges world order theories, nationalism studies, and history of science in Eurasian contexts.
Recent Publications
His scholarship spans from 2002 to 2025, analyzing civilizational narratives, decolonization processes, and transnational Islamic movements. Notable themes include the Treaty of Lausanne in geopolitical memory, anti-imperial ideologies, and Ottoman caliphate politics.
Teaching
Dr. Aydin teaches courses like The World since 1945, History of Muslim Societies, and Asian, African, and Middle Eastern history seminars.
