Celine Taglang, PhD, is a Researcher at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), affiliated with the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging and the School of Medicine. Her primary research focuses on developing hyperpolarized 13C MRI agents and isotopic labeling strategies to study tumor metabolism and response to therapies. She is part of the Chaumeil Lab and collaborates with Dr. Wilson and Dr. Flavell's labs.
Educational background includes a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (2015) from Paris Saclay University, with postdoctoral research at UCSF (2019–present). Her postdoc work spans hyperpolarized MRI applications for CNS lymphoma treatment evaluation and pH imaging in tumors. She has industry experience at GSK and Sanofi, focusing on therapeutic molecule synthesis.
Research interests center on metabolic imaging, tumor biology, and the development of novel MRI biomarkers. Key contributions include improving T1 relaxation times via deuteration methods and designing pH-sensitive imaging agents like [2-13C,D10]diethylmalonic acid. She has pioneered the use of δ-[1-13C]-gluconolactone for telomerase activity visualization in gliomas.
Scientific awards include the 2016 Prostate Cancer Research Program Early Investigator Award and the IRTELIS-CEA PhD Program fellowship (2012–2015). Her work integrates organic chemistry, catalysis (ruthenium nanoparticles), and translational MRI techniques for clinical applications.
