Celeste Pang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Humanities at Mount Royal University. Her work bridges sociocultural and medical anthropology with a focus on aging, disability, and care equity, particularly addressing 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Toronto with a collaborative specialization in Sexual Diversity Studies, an M.A. in Anthropology (Aging & the Life Course specialization), and a B.A. Honours in Anthropology from McGill University.
Her research interrogates systemic inequities related to cis-heterosexism, ageism, and ableism, employing critical disability studies and queer/trans frameworks. Current projects include studies on guardianship ethics for dementia patients, healthcare needs of transgender elders, and LBQ health promotion, funded by organizations like the Alzheimer Society, SSHRC, PHAC, and CIHR. Teaching specialties include Women’s and Gender Studies, global gender issues, and LGBTQI+ health.
