معرفی
Celeste Menuet Hackney is an Academic employee at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, Biomolecular Sciences. She completed her PhD in 2022 with a dissertation titled 'Expression and characterization of disulfide-rich toxins from venomous cone snails' and continues active research in venom peptide characterization and protein engineering.
Her research focuses on venomous cone snails and animal venoms, with particular expertise in disulfide-rich toxins, protein expression systems, and structural characterization of neurotoxic compounds. Hackney has made significant contributions to understanding conotoxin superfamilies, calcium channel inhibition mechanisms, and developing expression platforms for complex disulfide-bonded peptides.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong trend toward structural characterization of venom peptides, development of expression systems for disulfide-rich proteins, and therapeutic applications of venom components. Her work bridges structural biology, neuropharmacology, and biotechnology, with increasing emphasis on translational applications of venom research.
Hackney works within the research environment led by Professor Ellgaard at the University of Copenhagen, as evidenced by consistent co-authorship. Her research has attracted attention across multiple platforms, with publications being picked up by news outlets, referenced in patents, and widely read on academic platforms like Mendeley.
