Cecilie Dahl is an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo's Department of Public Health and Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, within the Institute of Health and Society. She leads the Master's Program in Public Health Science and Epidemiology (FHE) and teaches quantitative methods in epidemiology across multiple programs. Her research focuses on climate/environmental influences on fracture risk, osteoporosis, global public health, and microbiota. She chairs the Norwegian Epidemiological Association (NOFE) and leads the NOREPOS project on climate and fracture risk.
Education: PhD in Epidemiology (2014, thesis on drinking water quality and fractures), dual Master's in Epidemiology and Global Health (Columbia University, 2007), BS in Microbiology (San Diego State University, summa cum laude). Previous work includes epidemiology in Rwanda and research on gut microbiota at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.
Research interests span environmental epidemiology, register-based studies, and migrant health. Notable projects include the NOFRACT initiative to reduce recurrent fractures and studies on undocumented migrants' maternal healthcare access. Awards include the Tore Midtvedt Award (2016) and Phi Beta Kappa membership.
Advising includes supervising PhD students Frode Eick (maternal healthcare outcomes) and Camilla Andreasen (NoFRACT project), as well as master's students in public health and community medicine. Grants and collaborations involve NOREPOS, NoFRACT, and projects on Myanmar health systems (MY-NORTH).
Labs/teams: Active in NOREPOS, NoFRACT, and the Norwegian Capture the Fracture Initiative. Research groups include Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology at the University of Oslo.
