Catriona MacLeod

Catriona MacLeod is an Associate Professor in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pennsylvania. She was awarded the Andrew W. Mellon Penn Faculty Fellowship in the Humanities for 2010–2011, underscoring her scholarly contributions to the field.

Research Focus: Her work explores intersections between Romantic aesthetics and contemporary concepts of virtuality. The project All That is Solid Melts Into Air: Virtual Sculpture in German Romanticism examines how 19th-century literary and artistic phenomena prefigure modern detachment from the material realm through subjectivistic, virtual experiences.
