Catrin Westphal

Prof. Dr. Catrin Westphal is a Full Professor for Functional Agrobiodiversity & Agroecology at the University of Göttingen since 2024, holding a DFG Heisenberg Professorship (2018–2023) and prior roles as a Lecturer and researcher in agroecology. She earned her PhD in Agricultural Sciences (2004) and Habilitation in Ecology (2016) from the University of Göttingen.

Her research focuses on agroecosystem biodiversity, pollination services, and sustainable land use. She investigates how landscape structures and agricultural practices affect biodiversity and ecosystem functions, with a focus on wild pollinators and their contributions to crop productivity.

She has received numerous awards, including membership in the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities (2022–present). Her professional roles include editorial board memberships, steering committees for sustainability initiatives, and advisory roles in nature conservation.
