Catoni Maria Luisa

Maria Luisa Catoni is a Full Professor of Ancient Art History and Archaeology at the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca since 2014, and previously served as Associate Professor (2011-2014) and Fixed Term Full Professor (2010-2011) there. She has held prestigious fellowships including the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung (2013-2015), Volkswagen Stiftung (2017-2019), and Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (2009-2010). Her research focuses on classical art history, archaeology, cultural heritage, and interdisciplinary analysis of visual and cultural systems.

• Coordinated ERC and Volkswagen Stiftung projects
• Founder and Director of Lynx Centre for Interdisciplinary Analysis of Images
• Established PhD programs in Cultural Heritage and Cognitive Systems
• Co-curator of major exhibition on Greek art in Italy (2008)

She has served on evaluation panels for the European Research Council (SH5), ERC Starting Grants, and the European Commission's Scientific Advice Mechanism. Current affiliations include membership in the International Scientific Committee of the Kunsthistorisches Institut Florence (Max-Planck Gesellschaft) and advisory roles in European cultural institutions.
