Professor Cathy Vaughan serves as Director at the Nossal Institute for Global Health within the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne. With over 25 years of field experience across Asia, the Pacific, and Australia, she specializes in gender-focused public health research, violence prevention, and health equity initiatives targeting marginalized populations.
Her research examines how intersecting inequalities shape health outcomes and gender-based violence experiences, employing qualitative and participatory methodologies to engage migrant/refugee women, women with disabilities, faith communities, and youth. Current projects emphasize technology-facilitated gender-based violence in the Asia-Pacific region and co-design approaches to strengthen program implementation with NGOs and government partners.
