Dr. Cathy Reidy Liermann is a Senior Lecturer and Internship Coordinator for Western Washington University's College of the Environment, based at Everett & Western on the Peninsulas campuses. As an ecohydrologist, she studies human dependencies and impacts on freshwater systems, with focus areas including dam effects on inland fisheries, hydrological classification, and environmental flow analysis.
Her research has contributed to global assessments of river fragmentation and freshwater biodiversity conservation. She co-developed frameworks for evaluating river connectivity loss from dams and mapping free-flowing rivers worldwide. Recent investigations examine climate change impacts on river basins and sustainable management of freshwater resources.
Dr. Reidy Liermann holds a PhD from Umeå University and MS from University of Washington. She teaches courses in Water Quality, Stream Ecology, Climatology, and Ecosystem Management at WWU.
