Cathryn Molloy is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. Previously serving as associate director of the School of Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication at James Madison University for 11 years, she specializes in rhetoric of health and medicine, mental health rhetoric, and feminist methodologies. Her research emphasizes patient credibility, stigma reduction, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She co-edits the Rhetoric of Health and Medicine journal and has authored/edited multiple books including Rhetorical Ethos in Health and Medicine (2020) and Women’s Health Advocacy (2019).
Her work bridges academic theory with activist practices, exemplified by co-founding the Neurodiversity Celebration Collaborative (NCC). Current research explores menopause rhetorics, genetic risk communication, and the intersections of disability studies with healthcare discourse. Molloy’s publications frequently address healthcare equity, patient advocacy, and the rhetorical dimensions of medical decision-making.
