Catherine J. Lewis Theobald is an Associate Professor of French and Francophone Studies and Chair of the Department of Romance Studies at Brandeis University. Her research focuses on early modern French literature, word-image studies, and visual culture, particularly in 17th- and 18th-century texts. She explores topics like literary portraiture, gender, identity, and the intersection of text and image in works by French and English authors.
