Catherine Gisèle Dulac is a French-American molecular biologist and neuroscientist, currently serving as the Samuel W. Morris University Professor at Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. She is also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator and affiliated with Harvard's Brain Science Initiative, Center for Brain Science, and Hock E. Tan and K. Lisa Yang Center for Autism Research.
- École Normale Supérieure (BSc)
- Institut d'Embryologie Cellulaire et Moléculaire (PhD)
- Pierre and Marie Curie University (PhD, 1991)
Her research focuses on the molecular and neural mechanisms underlying social behaviors in mammals, particularly pheromone signaling, parental brain regulation, and sex-specific behavioral circuits. She discovered vomeronasal pheromone receptors and the role of Trpc2 in pheromone discrimination, linking these to parental behaviors and autism research.
Her recent publications explore the neuroscience of social behavior, genomic imprinting, and epigenetic control in the brain. She has received numerous accolades including the Breakthrough Prize (2021), Richard Lounsbery Award (2006), and Perl-UNC Neuroscience Prize (2010).
- BREAKTHROUGH PRIZE IN LIFE SCIENCES (2021)
- RICHARD LOUNSBERY AWARD (2006)
- SEARLE SCHOLAR (1998)
- MEMBER, NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (2015)
- PERL-UNC NEUROSCIENCE PRIZE (2010)
Dulac's lab investigates the medial amygdala's role in behavior and genomic imprinting, advancing understanding of neural circuits and epigenetic mechanisms in social and parental behaviors. She has held leadership roles as department chair (2007-2013) and continues mentoring future scientists.
