معرفی
Prof. Dr. Catherine Boyen is a Professor at the Roscoff Biological Station (France), leading research in the Department of Integrative Biology of Marine Models. Her work focuses on host-microbe interactions in brown algae (e.g., Ectocarpus) and their acclimation to environmental changes, particularly salinity stress. She utilizes genomic and genetic models to explore algal-microbiome symbioses and their role in climate resilience.
Prof. Boyen is also affiliated with the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, serving on its Women's Executive Board as part of efforts to promote gender equality in marine sciences. Her research integrates ecological, genetic, and microbiological approaches to understand holobiont dynamics in marine ecosystems.
Her contributions include pioneering studies on brown algal acclimation mechanisms, emphasizing the importance of microbial communities in organismal adaptation. Current projects investigate microbiome responses to abiotic stressors, bridging fundamental biology with climate change impacts.
