Catarina Marques is an Associate Professor at the Department of Quantitative Methods for Management and Economics of Iscte Business School and an Integrated Researcher at BRU-Iscte's Data Analytics Research Group. She holds a BSc in Applied Mathematics, MSc in Business Administration, and PhD in Quantitative Methods with specialization in Statistics and Data Analysis (2010).
Her primary research focuses on Structural Equation Modelling, PLS-PM, Segmentation Techniques, Statistical Modelling and Data Analysis, Longitudinal Data Analysis, Tourism Marketing, and Data Science. She has been instrumental in developing Iscte's undergraduate Data Science program, serving as Director of the BSc in Data Science (2019-2023) and currently coordinating the Data Science specialization of the PhD in Management since November 2023.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary approach spanning Tourism, Marketing, Statistics, and Data Science. The research trends show increasing focus on sharing economy platforms (particularly Airbnb), consumer behavior in tourism, statistical methodology development, and application of advanced data analysis techniques to real-world problems.

She has supervised 69 master's dissertations (58 completed, 11 in progress) across diverse topics including Tourism Marketing, Brand Management, Data Analysis applications, and Consumer Behavior. She currently serves as Coordinator of the PhD in Management (2024-2026) and is an alternate member of Iscte's Scientific Council. Her active research projects include studies on dyslexia identification in university students, U-space societal acceptance, online hate speech detection, and mobile telephone survey methodology.
Dr. Marques is also a member of the editorial team for the journal Sustainability (Q2) since 2019 and has organized numerous scientific conferences, including the International Conference on Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS2022).
