Casper Knudsen is a Researcher (Post.Doc) at the Department of Sustainability and Planning within the The Technical Faculty of IT and Design at Aalborg University. His research focuses on techno-anthropological perspectives of data work in healthcare, particularly the roles of medical secretaries and digital integrators in data-driven healthcare systems. He is affiliated with the Danish Centre for Health Informatics and actively contributes to interdisciplinary projects addressing healthcare digitalization challenges.
Knudsen leads projects such as The data work of medical secretaries in Danish hospitals (2021–2024) and co-leads European Health Data Space and Danish healthcare digitalization (2024–2025). His work emphasizes understanding the 'last mile' challenges in health IT implementation and promoting equity in digital healthcare access. He has presented at conferences like MIE 2023 and Scandinavian Conference on Health Informatics, contributing peer-reviewed articles to journals like International Journal of Medical Informatics.
Knudsen is a member of the PLAN Junior Researchers Network and Danish Centre for Health Informatics. His research highlights the often-invisible data management roles of medical secretaries, advocating for their recognition in healthcare workflows and policy. His recent studies address topics such as data quality maintenance, healthcare workforce adaptation, and context-sensitive digital integration models.
