Casey Peterson

Casey Peterson is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry, teaching Biochemistry with ocular emphasis, ocular disease courses, and clinical skills. She oversees patient care for third-year clinicians in Primary Care and fourth-year clinicians in the Eye Health Management Services (EHMS) ocular disease clinic at the UMSL Patient Care Center.

Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University, an optometry degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry (with Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society and Beta Sigma Kappa memberships), and a residency in Primary Care with emphasis in Ocular Disease from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry.

Dr. Peterson's research integrates Ocular Disease, Biochemistry with Ocular Emphasis, and Clinical Optometry to advance diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Her work bridges laboratory enzymology with clinical patient management, emphasizing translational applications in eye care.

Her publications analyze torpedo maculopathy pathology and BCHF enzymatic mechanisms, demonstrating expertise in retinal disorders and ocular biochemistry.
