Casey Fiesler

Casey Fiesler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Science at the University of Colorado Boulder with a courtesy appointment in Computer Science. She holds a PhD in Human-Centered Computing from Georgia Tech and a JD from Vanderbilt Law School. As a Senior Fellow at the Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, her research bridges social computing, online communities, technology ethics, and human-computer interaction.

Her interdisciplinary work examines the role of law, ethics, and social norms in socio-technical systems, addressing ethical challenges in AI, social media, and digital communities. Fiesler's investigations span ethical implications of generative AI, algorithmic fairness, digital afterlife technologies, and inclusive design practices, particularly focusing on marginalized communities.
