Casel Walker

Casel Walker is a Lecturer in the Department of Leadership in Education at the University of Massachusetts Boston, within the College of Education and Human Development. She brings over twenty-five years of extensive experience in educational leadership, primarily within the Boston Public Schools system.

Her research and professional interests focus on educational leadership, leadership development programs, and accountability for improved student performance. She has played a pivotal role in designing and implementing leadership certification frameworks and has facilitated the Quality Measures Principal Preparation Self-Assessment Process with various districts and university partners.

Ms. Walker previously served as the Executive Director of Boston’s School Leadership Institute, Acting Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, Cluster Six Leader, and principal of Manning Elementary School, which became a Compass School due to its high performance. She continues to support the advancement of educational leadership and student outcomes.

She holds an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Curry College and resides in Milton, Massachusetts.

Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in mentoring future leaders and collaborating with school districts and universities to strengthen leadership pipelines and instructional practices.
