Carsten Schaller is a researcher and assistant professor at the University of Münster in Germany, affiliated with the Climatology Group. His work centers on micrometeorology, the carbon cycle in climate change, and time series analysis, with a focus on atmospheric boundary layer processes and climate protection.
- Current Position: Assistant Professor (Postdoc / Temporary Academic Councillor), University of Münster (since October 2020)
- Education: Geoecology from the University of Bayreuth (2009–2015), with a Master's thesis on methane emissions in subarctic permafrost regions and a Bachelor's thesis on microclimate analysis of the EVENT experiment.
- Research Stays: Conducted fieldwork at the North-East Science Station in Chersky, Yakutia/Russia (2014).
Research Focus: Schaller investigates micrometeorological phenomena, particularly carbon cycle dynamics in the context of global warming, using advanced statistical methods like wavelet transformation and conditional sampling. His work addresses critical intersections between climate science, atmospheric processes, and environmental data analysis.
