Carsten Könke

Prof. Dr. Carsten Könke is a full professor of Structural Statics and Component Strength at Bauhaus University Weimar and Scientific Director of its Material Research and Testing Laboratory. He holds a Dr.-Ing. from Ruhr-University Bochum (1993) and habilitation in structural mechanics (1999). His academic career includes roles at RWTH Aachen and Ruhr-University Bochum before joining Weimar in 2001.

Research focuses on computational modeling of materials, structural damage simulation, and sustainable construction materials. Key areas include fatigue analysis, material damping, metaconcrete, and seismic control. His work integrates advanced methods like finite element analysis, machine learning, and inverse problem solving for structural health monitoring.

Prof. Könke leads the 'Modeling and Simulation' research lab and contributes to projects like SPP100+ (bridge monitoring) and RENAT.BAU (sustainable construction). His expertise spans interdisciplinary topics such as smart materials, lifecycle prediction, and eco-friendly concrete formulations.
