Carrie L. Stott serves as Assistant Professor and Program Director of the Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at Carlow University's College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Social Work. She joined the faculty in January 2020 and assumed program directorship in 2022, successfully guiding the MSW Program through Council on Social Work Education reaffirmation and transitioning it to a fully online format.
Her academic credentials include a PhD in Health Care Ethics from Duquesne University, an MSW from the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, and a BS in Mental Health Counseling from Gannon University.
Dr. Stott's research centers on ethical frameworks in healthcare delivery, with specialization in Alzheimer's disease management through an ethics of care approach. She investigates multidisciplinary integrated health care models, mental health stigma reduction strategies, and workforce development for vulnerable populations in medically underserved areas, emphasizing social and economic justice.
She leads two major federally funded initiatives: the Health Resources and Service Administration's Underserved and Rural Engagement Program II and the Department of Education's Promoting Mental Health in Area Schools Project, focusing on expanding service access and reducing barriers to care.
Dr. Stott actively contributes to professional organizations including the National Association of Social Workers and Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care, and serves on the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council.
