Dr Carolyne Douché is a Researcher Co-Investigator and Marie Curie Fellow at the Institute of Archaeology, University of Oxford. She completed her PhD in Archaeology at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in collaboration with the Museum for Natural History of Paris under joint supervision of G. Willcox, M. Tengberg, and P. Butterlin.
Her research centers on archaeobotany with primary focus on Mesopotamian plant economies across the Late Neolithic to Bronze Age transition. Key research areas include:

She currently leads the MSCA project GRAMADIF ('Do grains make the difference? Plant economies during the development of urban societies in Mesopotamia') with Prof. Mike Charles. Her fieldwork spans 8 excavation sites across northern Iraq (Bana Hilk, Gird-i Lashkir, Gird-i Rostam, Gird-i Qala, Kunara, Logardan) and southern Iraq (Tell el-‘Uwaili, Larsa), employing integrated methodologies including morphological analysis, stable isotopes, and weed ecology to reconstruct agricultural systems from production to consumption.
