Dr. Carolyn Ten Holter is a Research Fellow in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Responsible Technology Institute. Her research focuses on responsible innovation in quantum computing, autonomous systems, and AI, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration between academia, industry, and policy sectors. She holds a BA in Law from New College, Oxford, and has extensive private sector experience in business development and law firms. Currently, she leads projects like ResQCCom and RAKE (Responsible AI UK), and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Responsible Technology and various ethics committees.
Her academic contributions include work on participatory design methodologies and governance frameworks for novel technologies. Key projects include RoAD (autonomous vehicle data), RAILS (lifelong learning in AVs), and collaborations with the Quantum Computing and Simulation Hub. She has been recognized as an OPEN Policy Fellow and Social Science Engagement Fellow, reflecting her commitment to bridging technical and societal dimensions of innovation.
