Carolyn Roberts is an Assistant Professor at Yale University with joint appointments in the Department of History/History of Science and Medicine and African American Studies, plus a secondary appointment at Yale School of Medicine's Program in the History of Medicine. Her work bridges historical scholarship with contemporary healthcare innovation through multidisciplinary solutions.

Dr. Roberts' research centers on medicine's entanglement with slavery in the Atlantic world, examining how the transatlantic slave trade created predatory healthcare systems that continue to impact modern medical practice. She specializes in African diaspora health history, race and science studies, and non-Western medical traditions, mobilizing historical knowledge to address current health disparities through community-driven initiatives.
