Carolyn DeLoyde is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University. Her research focuses on cities and the natural environment, Natural Heritage Systems (NHS), ecosystem services, and community engagement. She leads the Kingston in Focus project, an interactive dashboard developed with the City of Kingston and others to support data-driven policy and community resilience post-pandemic. Dr. DeLoyde holds a PhD in Geography (2021) and has 25 years of professional planning experience, including roles as a Registered Professional Planner (RPP).

Her research interests include municipal resilience to crises like the pandemic, NHS planning in urban areas, and leveraging technology for inclusive policy-making. The Kingston in Focus dashboard integrates themes such as business resilience, mobility, and cultural heritage, using advanced visualization tools to engage diverse stakeholders. This work aims to inform equitable post-pandemic rebuilding efforts.
Publications highlight her contributions to environmental governance, sustainability frameworks, and community energy planning. Her teaching spans undergraduate geography and graduate planning programs at Queen’s and the University of Toronto.
