Dr. Caroline Weight is a Lecturer in Respiratory Infection and Immunity at Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine, within the Biomedical And Life Sciences department. Her research focuses on how respiratory pathogens like Streptococcus pneumoniae interact with nasal epithelial cells, leveraging advanced imaging and models to study immune responses and age-related changes. She co-leads the Respiratory Working Group for the International Consortium for the Classification of Ageing-Related Pathologies (ICCARP) and serves on the editorial board of Immunotherapy Advances.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as BIOL112 (Cell Structure and Function), BIOL243 (Medical Microbiology), and BIOL334 (New and Emerging Microbial Pathogens), alongside supervising research projects. She is an Early Career Researcher Training Tutor for the Biomedical and Life Sciences division.
