Dr. Caroline Pezzarossi serves as Special Assistant to the Provost for Curriculum, Outreach, and Resources at Gallaudet University while maintaining her role as Professor in the Department of Psychology. Her work spans strategic institutional leadership and academic instruction, overseeing accreditation processes, policy development, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Gallaudet University, preceded by an M.A. in Clinical Psychology, and earlier degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling (M.S.) and Psychology (B.A.). Her research focuses on intimate partner violence within Deaf communities, mental health disparities, and media's societal impact, with particular attention to DeafBlind, DeafDisabled, and hard-of-hearing populations.
Teaching expertise includes courses on Human Sexuality, Social Psychology, and Abnormal Psychology. Her 2021-2022 ACE Fellowship at Widener University further developed her administrative leadership capabilities. She currently serves as accreditation liaison for Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Key contributions include groundbreaking studies on Deaf populations' human trafficking risk factors, social media usage patterns among older deaf adults, and culturally responsive psychological practices. Her work emphasizes intersectional approaches to addressing systemic barriers faced by marginalized deaf communities.
