Caroline Mezger is a Research Fellow at the Shelby Cullom Davis Center for Historical Studies, Columbia University, for Spring 2025, and affiliated with the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History in Berlin.
Her research centers on modern European history, specifically analyzing forced migration, displacement mechanisms, and rumor transmission during the Nazi era (1938–1948). Her current project, Rumor and Displacement: A History of Forced Migration under the Third Reich, 1938–1948, investigates socio-psychological dynamics of population expulsions under totalitarian regimes, bridging Holocaust studies, migration theory, and social history.
