Caroline Jonkman is an Assistant Professor at the Clinical Child and Family Studies department within the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds a dual appointment in the LEARN! - Child Rearing program. Her research focuses on clinical interventions for families and children exposed to trauma, particularly domestic violence, attachment disorders, and foster care systems. She completed a PhD in Child and Family Studies (2009–2015) and a Master’s in Forensic Child Studies (2004–2008).
Key research interests include family dynamics, trauma-focused therapies, behavioral interventions, and the ethical challenges in measuring attachment in clinical settings. She contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals related to reducing violence and promoting well-being. Her work spans academic publications, peer review for journals like Child Care Health and Development, and collaborations in projects like the Academische Werkplaats Viveon.
