Caroline Frey is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Veterinary Microbiology at the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern, Switzerland. Her academic credentials include a Dr. med vet (2006) and Habilitation in Veterinary Parasitology (2014), both from the University of Bern. She is a Diplomate of the European Veterinary Parasitology College (EVPC).
Dr. Frey specializes in zoonotic and food/water-borne parasites, with a focus on developing diagnostic methods for parasites such as Toxoplasma, Trichinella, Echinococcus, and trichomonads. Her research includes molecular characterization and epidemiological studies. She has extensive teaching experience in veterinary parasitology, including lectures, practical courses, and seminars for undergraduate students.
She has supervised four veterinary doctoral students and several master’s students. Notable achievements include her work on novel diagnostic tools and contributions to the European Veterinary Parasitology College. Her research emphasizes practical applications in food safety and public health.
