Caroline Chen

Caroline Chen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at San José State University's Lucas College and Graduate School of Business. She holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University, a J.D. from American University, and a B.S. from Rutgers University. Previously, she served 13 years as a senior attorney at the IRS's Large Business and International Division. She is licensed to practice law in California, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, D.C., and before the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

• Roles: Academic Senator, Chair of Academic Freedom Committee, Professional Standards Committee member
• Teaching: Courses include Tax Factors of Business Decisions (BUS1 123A), Taxation of Individuals (BUS 220P), and International Taxation (BUS 225W).

Expertise Focus: Specializes in taxation policy, corporate tax strategies, and international tax law. Her prior IRS experience informs her research on legal and regulatory frameworks in finance and taxation.
