Carolina Maria

Carolina Puyaltó Rovira is an Associate Professor at the Department of Pedagogy, University of Girona (UdG), and coordinator of the Degree in Social Education since February 2023. She is a member of the Diversity Research Group at the Institute of Educational Research of UdG, collaborating with full professor Maria Pallisera Diaz.

Her research focuses on social and educational inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and inclusive research processes involving people with disabilities as researchers. She employs qualitative, mixed, and participatory methodologies.

Carolina has participated in 11 competitive research projects across international (SSHRC, EACEA, EU INTERREG), national (Spanish Ministry of Economics), autonomous (AGAUR), and local (UdG) levels. She has coauthored 42 publications, including 14 indexed journal articles, and presented 49 contributions at national and international conferences such as the Congress of Humanities and Social Sciences (Canada) and ECER (European Educational Research Association).

She conducted two international research stays: a pre-doctoral stay at Trinity College Dublin (2014) and a post-doctoral stay at Université de Moncton, Canada (2017-2018). Carolina collaborates with advocacy groups like LADD (Association for the Defense of Rights of People with Intellectual Disabilities) and the Unified Space for the Right to Independent Living of People with Disabilities.
