معرفی
Prof. Carolin Daniel is a leading academic in Immunology, currently serving as Professor of Immunomodulation at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) and Head of the Research Unit 'Type 1 Diabetes Immunology' (TDI) at Helmholtz Zentrum München. Her work focuses on regulatory T cells (Tregs) in autoimmune diseases like type 1 diabetes.
- Education: PhD in the DFG Research Training Group at Goethe University Frankfurt and Karolinska Institute; postdoc at Harvard Medical School.
- Research: Investigates molecular mechanisms of Treg impairments, heterogeneity of immune cells in metabolic tissues, and miRNA-based strategies for diabetes therapy.
Her research group combines human immune cell analysis with murine and humanized models to explore immune-metabolic interactions and context-specific Treg manipulation. Recent studies highlight miRNA signaling, skeletal muscle regeneration, and adipose tissue immune regulation.
Scientific awards include the 2025 Werner Creutzfeldt Prize, 2021 Isil Berat Barlan Award, and multiple grants for autoimmune diabetes research. She leads the German Diabetes Center's T1D Academy and co-spokesperson of SFB/DFG TRR 355 on Treg specialization.
As a mentor, Daniel emphasizes team development and individual growth. Her affiliations span Helmholtz Diabetes Center, German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD), and LMU Hospitals. Collaborations include Harvard Medical School, Goethe University Frankfurt, and Technische Universität München.
