Dr. Carolin Aronis is an Assistant Professor in the Race, Gender, and Ethnic Studies Department at Colorado State University, with affiliations to the Communication Studies program. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2015). Her interdisciplinary research bridges critical media studies, antisemitism, anti-Black racism, spatial rhetoric, and Holocaust memory. Key areas of focus include hate symbols on campuses, media representations of marginalized identities, and urban architecture's communicative ethics.
Dr. Aronis has pioneered university-level initiatives against antisemitism, including co-chairing CSU’s Presidential Task Force on Jewish Inclusion and advising federal anti-hate campaigns. She teaches courses like 'Antisemitism Uncovered' and 'Technology, Race, and Gender,' emphasizing intersectional justice. Her work has earned Top Paper Awards from major communication associations and been translated into multiple languages.
Notable publications include analyses of hate symbols as violent technologies (2024), the rhetorical journey of Sojourner Truth’s speech (2025), and architectural liminality theory (2022). Her research often combines material environments with symbolic communication, revealing systemic oppression mechanisms.
Dr. Aronis’ community engagement includes creating university policy frameworks, advising international leaders on hate prevention, and fostering intercultural dialogue through reading groups and speaker series. She is co-developing a Jewish Studies program and remains committed to first-generation scholar advocacy.
