Dr. Carol Stalker is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Derby, affiliated with the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care and the School of Psychology. Her teaching focuses on undergraduate and postgraduate psychology programs, including developmental psychology and research methods. She holds a BSc (2004) and MSc (2006) from the University of Derby, and completed her PhD in 2020 exploring illness acceptance in dialysis patients.
Her research centers on health psychology, particularly psychosocial factors influencing quality of life in chronic illnesses such as coronary heart disease, obesity, and renal conditions. Key projects include investigations into acceptance-based interventions for haemodialysis patients, compassionate approaches to weight management, and the impact of the pandemic on renal care. She has contributed to large-scale initiatives like the NoHoW digital weight maintenance project and co-authored successful grant proposals to advance her work.
Dr. Stalker actively disseminates findings through peer-reviewed journals and conferences, including presentations at the British Psychological Society Health Psychology Division and UK Kidney Week. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges clinical practice, patient experiences, and digital health innovation to improve chronic disease management and well-being.
