Carol Schwartz

Carol Schwartz serves as an Assistant Professor of Illustration at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford, specializing in nature-based visual storytelling through nonfiction children's literature and scientific illustration.

Education:

• MFA in Illustration, University of Hartford
• BFA, Kansas City Art Institute and Rhode Island School of Design

Her research centers on nature illustration with emphasis on ecological accuracy and educational visual narratives. Schwartz has produced over 60 nonfiction picture books and contributed to publications for National Geographic Society, The Washington Post, and Procter & Gamble, translating complex natural phenomena into accessible art for young audiences. Her methodology integrates direct field observation with artistic practice.
