Carol Opdebeeck

Dr Carol Opdebeeck is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. She holds a PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology from Bangor University (2016) and an MSc in Foundations of Clinical Neuropsychology (2012). Her research focuses on cognitive aging, dementia, and lifestyle factors influencing wellbeing in later life.

Research Interests: Dr Opdebeeck investigates how cognitive reserve, mood, and lifestyle factors interact to affect cognitive function in older adults. Her work includes collaborations with the ENLIVEN project on nature-based interventions and the IDEAL programme (Impact of Dementia on Everyday Activities and Life) for longitudinal dementia research.

Scientific Contributions: Recent publications highlight her expertise in outcome measurement for dementia interventions, cognitive reserve mechanisms, and the psychosocial impact of pet ownership and outdoor activity for aging populations. She leads the Biological Mechanisms and Neuropsychological Health unit, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to healthy aging.
