Carol Loopstra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Ecology and Conservation Biology at Texas A&M University, part of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. She specializes in loblolly pine genomics and molecular biology, with a focus on drought stress responses and tools for tree breeders. Her work explores gene expression variation and its impact on adaptation. Loopstra has secured over $47 million in grants, with $2.49 million directly attributed to her research. She teaches courses like Forest Trees of North America and has advised 17 graduate students (7 PhD, 10 master’s).
