Dr. Carol Gray Brunton is a Lecturer at the School of Health and Social Care, Edinburgh Napier University. Her work focuses on public health, health psychology, and critical discursive methodologies, particularly in the context of HPV vaccine communication, cancer care, and marginalized populations.
- Current projects: Exploring Vaccine Hesitancy for Covid-19 (funded by Royal Society of Edinburgh), Young People with Learning Disabilities & Ethnic Minority Views on HPV Vaccine (Carnegie Trust), and cross-cultural cancer caregiving studies.
- Education: PhD, MSc, BA (Hons) in Psychology.
Carol employs qualitative, critical discursive, and thematic synthesis methods to investigate vaccine acceptance, health communication, and socio-cultural barriers. Recent collaborations include studies on HPV vaccine uptake among gay/bisexual men and migrant caregivers, with a focus on inclusive STEAM-based approaches to immunization education.
Her supervision includes PhD students Mengxue Xia (cross-cultural cancer caregiving), Lewis Clarke (HPV vaccine perceptions in Scotland), and Bruce Harper-McDonald (district nursing ethnography). Funders include the Carnegie Trust, British Council, and MacMillan Cancer Support.
