Carol A. Leger is a Part-Time Lecturer in the Geology Department at Keene State College, where she serves as an adjunct instructor. She maintains active memberships in the Geologic Society of NH, Geologic Society of America, and Keene Mineral Club, and holds leadership roles in the Keene State College Alumni Association.
Leger earned her BS in Geology in 2000 from Keene State College, complemented by specialized studies in:
- Stable Isotope Geochemistry
- Applied Biostratigraphy
- Field Methods for Educators
- Google Map Applications in Geoscience Education
Her research focuses on innovative earth science education methodologies, with emphasis on:
- Field-based curriculum development
- Mineralogy education
- Geoscience accessibility for non-specialists
- Community outreach program design
Her sole publication (1998) pioneered field trip frameworks for non-science majors, establishing early work in experiential geoscience education. Recent teaching prioritizes national park geology and earth systems science.
She received the Faust Award in Geology (2000) recognizing academic excellence during undergraduate studies.
Leger actively mentors through the KSC Aspire Program and has developed extensive outreach initiatives including:
- Elementary school mineral identification workshops
- Scout troop geology sessions
- 'Dirt Detectives' summer program (2012)
- Cheshire County mining education
While not leading a formal research lab, she collaborates through professional societies and community education networks to advance geology literacy.
