Carmen King serves as a Professional Practice Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical and Life Sciences and holds a secondary appointment as Professional Practice Assistant Professor at the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UVDL), both within Utah State University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Her research spans Veterinary Medicine with specialized focus on Clinical Veterinary Sciences and Animal Health Diagnostics. She contributes to diagnostic pathology, zoonotic disease surveillance, and veterinary clinical education through UVDL's state-certified laboratory operations, which process over 100,000 animal disease cases annually across Utah's livestock and companion animal populations.
Dr. King's work integrates with UVDL's core functions in disease outbreak response, food safety testing, and wildlife health monitoring, utilizing advanced diagnostics including PCR, histopathology, and serology. The laboratory maintains partnerships with Utah's Department of Agriculture, USDA, and regional veterinary clinics to support animal health infrastructure.
